Chef Bringing the Tastes of South Texas to Alabama

At 35, chef David Bancroft is one of the rising stars in the culinary world.

Since opening his restaurant Acre in the university town of Auburn, Alabama, in 2013, he has appeared on TV’s “Iron Chef” (and won), has earned three semifinal nods in the Best Chef — South by the James Beard Foundation Awards and has helped turn Auburn into a dining destination, earning national acclaim for his use of locally sourced ingredients.

But you can’t talk to Bancroft very long before his thoughts, and words, turn to his South Texas roots that are at the heart of his new venture, a fast-casual restaurant called Bow & Arrow that will bring dishes inspired by Texas’ barbecue and Mexican food to Auburn this summer.
