The restaurant's Maxwell Boulevard location has built a loyal following over the years. It will remain open, but the new spot on Dexter Ave. is different in several ways. It’s table service instead of cafeteria-style, it’ll be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and there’s a lot more to eat including several new vegetarian dishes.
Manchester, Jamaica, native Melissa Smith opened the original location in 2002 after the jerk chicken she cooked for her husband’s Air Force squadron won raves on base. These days there’s often a line at the door before the restaurant opens.
